Week 3 - We won't be the youngest district anymore!

Week 3 - We won't be the youngest district anymore!

Mon, Jun 4, 1:28 PM

Hmm this week has been fun. I just don't remember what happened haha. Wednesday -
Friday were long days with 6 hours of class as usual. Then Friday night, we watched the
Be One devotional which was so awesome!! It was so fun to watch. It was so different from
the normal devotionals with the clapping and stuff. At one point missionaries tried to stand
and clap with the music, but president Martino was having none of that haha. But yeah that
devotional was so cool!

Then yesterday we had a devotional by Sheri Dew. She was a super good speaker, and her
devotional was about how we all have a Divine Orbit, and we are all where we are for a
reason. It was super good.

Also, we get new missionaries Wednesday for mandarin speakers! we get two new districts, and double the elders in our zone. One of them is Kyle Cribbs, a friend in my ward at BYU, so that will be awesome!!

Something my branch pres said which really describes the MTC, is that the days are long but the weeks are quick. That's pretty much how this week feels haha.

Also the elders that were supposed to be leaving to Taiwan got visa waited... so it's not a
Taipei curse haha. They are reassigned to AZ and WA mostly. So odds are I will be visa
waited for a transfer as well. But they are all leaving in the next couple of days, so that will
be sad.

Unfortunately no pictures

Honestly, I don't really remember anything else haha... So talk to you guys next week!

The week I almost met an apostle

Mon, Jun 11, 1:21 PM

Wow this week has been packed.

On Tuesday, we had devotional as usual. Tuesday is usually when the better speakers come, so we were excited. When we were practicing for choir, they were moving us all around so we looked good, and getting ready for a broadcast, so we knew it was probably an apostle. Then we found out it was Elder Gong! He served in Taiwan and stuff,
so all the mandarin speakers were super excited. Then he spoke and it was a super good
devotional. He started out talking about how he served as a mission president with someone named Wong, so they called them both Hong Kong Gong or Hong Kong Wong. Then he said you better not mix them up, or you might have the Wong (wrong) Gong or maybe Gong (gone) Wong(wrong). It was pretty funny. And then after, we were having a district meeting and our counselor told us Elder Gong was next door! And he would
visit us next! So we were super excited, but then he ended up not having time for us. So the
older district got to see him, but we weren't. But it was still an awesome experience.

PS, anyone with children at different MTC's, they might have seen me haha. I was on the TV since I was in choir, and they like zoomed in right on me and my companion apparently.

Then Wednesday was also super fun. We hosted for the International and early arrivals, so
I got to host two elders from Mexico, one from Ecuador, and one from Ukraine. Luckily they
all had pretty good English except one of the ones from Mexico, but the other Spanish
speakers helped him out haha. So that was super fun. I got to see RaAnna Dahle briefly and have seen her a couple of times. And then we got to meet our new districts which was fun. I like our new districts, they are super fun. Also President Graff told us that we are one of the most unique branches, because only with us do we have so many missionaries going to so many different places. I think he said we have 17 missions or something in our branch.

Also on Wednesday, we had some people come and watch us in our class. They were from
Aetna, the insurance company that insures the church. So they were some VIPs from that
company and they wanted to come and see how the MTC worked. There are some members and some not. Basically we introduced our selves and then just had a quick lesson and then they asked some questions. It was a pretty cool experience. Also as I introduced myself, of course I got the Farmer from Idaho comment, and they all thought it was funny. But yeah that was super cool.

Past Wednesday, the week was pretty normal. We had TRC, where members come and we
teach them in Mandarin. So that was fun. Then we had our full Sundays as usual with every
second seemingly full of spiritual stuff haha. We watched the Joseph Smith movie which was kind of weird haha. And then this morning, did pday stuff! All in all a packed week, but also super cool week!
